PEMBELA: Media Statement on Hindraf

By Laksamana • Dec 7th, 2007 • Category: Kenyataan Media / Press Releases

PEMBELA refers to the recent street protest held on the 25th of November 2007 by a movement called Hindraf or Hindu Rights Action Force in support of their demands.

While PEMBELA acknowledges the fundamental right of every citizen to gather peacefully and their right to free speech within the ambit of the law, PEMBELA deplores the actions carried out by Hindraf in the pursuit of their demands.

Among the steps taken by Hindraf was to send a letter to the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. In this letter dated the 15th of November 2007, written by P. Uthayakumar as the legal adviser to Hindraf, Hindraf made several accusations and allegations against the Malaysian Government, and the Muslim community of committing atrocities against Malaysians of Indian origin. These accusations are not only malicious and untrue but highly inflammatory and calculated to incite racial and religious discord among Malaysians.

In the said letter Hindraf appealed to the UK Government to move an emergency resolution in the United Nations to condemn Malaysian Government for committing ethnic cleansing and genocide against Malaysian Indians with the backing of Islamic extremist and terrorist.

Such accusations by Hindraf are not only baseless and untrue but malicious and highly inflammatory with the objective of arousing racial and religious discord particularly between the Malays and Indians and also between the Muslims and the Hindus in this country.

Hindraf has also issued a veiled threat that the Indians in Malaysia may resort to armed terrorist insurrection like that being carried out in Sri Lanka if the Malaysian government do not give in to their demands, the principal one being the rejection of certain fundamental provisions of the Federal Constitution.

PEMBELA views the actions of Hindraf and especially their leaders with grave concern as their actions and threat to resort to armed revolt are not only seditious but can be regarded as acts of treason.

Hindraf now seeks to use these malicious and baseless allegations to garner international support for their cause and have despatched one P. Warya Moorthy to undertake this campaign.

Hindraf has also threatened the Malaysian Government, in particular the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato’ Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, that they will relentlessly pursue such campaign unless the Malaysian government meet their leaders to discuss their demands. PEMBELA condemns such attempts at blackmail and intimidation as totally unacceptable.

The events behind HINDRAF’s actions are reminiscent of the events which led to the May 13 tragedy in 1969. PEMBELA therefore condemns the highly irresponsible actions of Hindraf, especially their leaders for fanning the fires of racial and religious emotions and urges the Malaysian government to act firmly, before racial and religious sentiments become uncontrollable.

PEMBELA therefore urges the Malaysioan Government to:

1. Ban the movement called Hindraf;
2. Take firm legal action against the leaders of Hindraf; and
3. Not to entertain any demands by Hindraf for any discussion or meeting with the Malaysian Government.

PEMBELA also views with concern statements issued by other organizations echoing the threat by Hindraf that the Indians may have to resort to armed terrorist insurrection if their demands are not listened to by the Malaysian Government.

PEMBELA considers such statements as irresponsible, more so coming from organizations that demand others to act within the ambit of the law.

  1. A LAYMAN SPEAKS _ Just came across this childish article.. Blatant lies.. PEMBELA is unheard of and that’s the way it will be, so don’t waste your time…You being an old timer lawyer should have better brains than this..
All what we Malaysian Indians, who were born here, and who helped build this country, wants is our fundamental rights.

The elected people in power today, are so arrogant and corrupted.. they do things as they like-misusing Taxpayers monies, and forcibly denying us what is ours… Everything today is - Bumi this, Bumi that, ‘must be a Bumi Company’, Tenders, contracts and all.. Building mosques in every nook and corner, without asking our permission (built with our ‘taxpayers’ money)….. Denying us our place of worship..
This is what HINDRAF is all about.. Demanding for what is owed us… When we go thru the proper channels, we are rejected, when we resort to peaceful gatherings in large numbers to demand; they say we are being violent..- What shit is this..??
We were born here.. We helped build this country- labourers that Malaysia needed then..; while the so-called Bumis were relaxing (lazininess runs in their blood and it’s a well known fact).. Now you tell us to leave, who the hell gave you people THAT right..?? Rightfully the self-claimed Bumis are the “squatters” here, with no origins. Infact the word Bumi itself is Indian, like I said - NO ORIGINALITY… You get it Now .? We don’t need this PEMBELA shit, maybe your own kind needs it.. Do something for your own kind-they need mental development… Don’t bother us… YOU PEOPLE NEEDED US and not the other way round…… Think about it… The day will come, when the NON-BUMIS have just got to sit back with folded arms and watch Indonesia take over Malaysia… Indonesians are hard workers, they hate the Malays…. I have personally been involved with them for many years and they tend to get along well with the Indians and Chinese l…- Go; ask them… They’re already sitting in comfortable positions in Malaysai… They will attack you scums from within….
As for us Indians, You say we are a minority, .. Yes we are !!! And we, the minority have made an impact WORLDWIDE on our own… That fight is still going on and HINDRAF will be around for a long, long time to come… MOVE OVER, !!! The world is watching you, Malaysia…
Come ELECTIONS - Watch the Fun….. The stage is set… Sandiwara will be a thing of the past… Badawi and family will be running helter skelter for shelter maybe to Perth or Egypt, where his luxury boat is berthed….

  2. Dear Respected Mr. Zainur Zakaria, Hindraf leaders did the things u mentioned e.g. sending letter to Britain PM, bcoz hundreds of letters sent to their OWN PM a.k.a Badawi didnt not even receive a single reply. Hindraf is not here to simply create trouble in Malaysia, do u think we really dont have anything else to do?

  3. You all were being misled by those who were trying to be the champion of Indian here. There is no marginalization of Indian. The present situation of the Indians is their own doing. First ethnic cleansing of the Indians, now marginalization of Indians. These are all lies, stupid lies, only fools will succumb to this. Nobody is putting a barrier or hurdles for the Indians to make an achievement here. You want to know what marginalization is, look at the Malays in Singapore, you want to know what is ethnic cleansing just look at how the Indians treated the Muslim in India. The Indians in Malaysia should be thankful and grateful for their present condition is thousand times better if they were to be left in their motherland India. I tell you even ananda krishna, samy vello and those hindraf lawyers and organizer might be walking barefooted and unclothed in the street of madras if their ancestors did not migrate here. Think and be grateful

What Pembela is saying is very true, Gov should be stern and hard on these types of indians, if they are here to create
trouble and chaos to this country, we dont need them. What are the indians contribution to the country? Really i cant see any, but what the country has provided for the indians and the toleration of the malays towards the indians are plenty. The demands of the Hindraf and their threats are uncalled for. But if they decide to resort to terrorist like, then it is esier for us to handle them, here is not Sri Langka, where they can run and hide in Tamil Nadu.Remember the junggle here are the malays hunting ground, i tell you the indians will never last more then one month, there will be not even a singgle hinddu’s soul or temple again on this land if the indians were to resort to terrorist. The malays in this country must view that the action taken by Hindraf recently is a real threat to them, and the weaknesses of the government especially PM in handling the stuation will make the situation worst. For this type of situation we need to emulate Sukarno, get all the indians together put them on ships and send them back to India.
